Guba

A guba is a woollen cover fabric with an inserted pile. Originally, pile fabrics like this were used as coverings for horses, in carts, and for making long shepherds’ cloaks. A characteristic feature of guba is that during weaving, wool tufts are inserted into the warp after every 3–4 weft threads, passing under pairs of warp yarns. This creates its distinctive textured, shaggy surface.
