Ústredie ľudovej umeleckej výroby Bratislava
The Regional Craft Centre (RCR) of ÚĽUV in Bratislava is an educational and cultural institution dedicated to preserving, promoting, and teaching traditional crafts and folk art production as an important part of cultural heritage. Established in 1999, the centre serves as a hub for both learning and hands-on experience in traditional craftsmanship.
Located in a historic building in the city centre on Obchodná Street, the RCR offers a wide range of year-round craft courses for adults, children, and young people. Its main activities include organizing short-term and long-term courses in pottery, woodcarving, weaving with natural materials, wire craft, lace-making, and loom weaving, as well as other traditional techniques.
The centre also provides accredited educational programmes for adults, supporting lifelong learning in traditional crafts. For schools, it organizes workshops and guided visits during the academic year, where students can actively try out selected crafts and create their own handmade items. Adults can participate in similar short-term creative experiences.
In addition to regular courses, the RCR runs seasonal educational programmes. During July and August, it hosts the popular “Craft Holidays” day camp for children aged 8 to 15. At the end of August, it also organizes a Summer School of Crafts for adult participants.
