Ústredie ľudovej umeleckej výroby Košice
The Regional Craft Centre (RCR) of ÚĽUV in Košice was established in 2013 as a contact point providing advisory and educational services for the eastern Slovakia region. It operates with its own network of art advisors and craft instructors from the region.
The centre is located in a renovated historic building on Mäsiarska Street in the city centre and includes a sales area, gallery, library, and craft workshops. Its main activity is running the ÚĽUV School of Crafts, where children, youth, and adults can learn traditional production techniques and develop practical craft skills through year-round short-term and long-term courses.
The RCR also organizes seasonal educational programmes. For children and youth, it offers holiday events such as “Spring Holidays with Craft” and “Craft Holidays” during July and August. For adults, it provides accredited courses as part of further education, as well as a Summer School of Crafts held in the last week of August.
The most frequently attended courses take place in pottery, wire craft, weaving, textile, woodcarving, and reverse glass painting workshops, while a variety of other, less common traditional crafts are also offered throughout the year.
