Bublavá Jana
She has been spinning, knitting, and weaving since 2010. She acquired her knowledge of these crafts through literature, from friends, and through her own experience. In her work, she uses wool from Slovak sheep, which she spins herself.
She regularly participates in craft fairs and festivals featuring craft demonstrations—the Harvest Festival in Turej Lúka, the “Crafts Unite Us” event in the Czech town of Bučovice and on the ramparts of Trenčín Castle, the “Living Workshops” in Stará Turá, the Ľubina Folklore Festival, and the Trenčín Folklore Festival in Mníchova Lehota. In 2012, she released the DVD Krosienka—instructions for simple weaving techniques. She actively passes on her craft by teaching courses—weaving techniques in Stará Turá, sheep’s wool processing at the Osvetové Stredisko in Senica, individual courses in spinning on a spindle and spinning wheel, sheep’s wool processing, and the basics of loom weaving.
She also gives lectures, publishes, exhibits, and welcomes visitors to her workshop, Praslica, in Stará Turá.
