JANKIV is a brand founded by siblings Karolína and Michal, dedicated to reviving and preserving the art of hand pleating. This ancient technique of folding materials and creating textures on fabric has a long tradition in Slovakia, particularly in the decoration of traditional folk costumes. All JANKIV designs are created, hand-pleated, and sewn in their Košice studio. In their work, they use traditional methods as well as historical paper patterns, which they inherited from the masters of this technique. Their products combine artisanal skill with modern design. The brand strives to revive the artistic technique of pleating for the 21st century. JANKIV offers unique, handcrafted garments with an emphasis on quality and tradition.
