Bohempia

Bohempia designs and manufactures barefoot footwear, clothing and accessories — all from natural and sustainable materials, predominantly hemp fibers. Their shoes, textiles and accessories are created in small workshops in the EU and the final processing (weaving, dyeing, sewing, testing) takes place directly in their studio in Prague. Bohempia products are designed to take advantage of hemp material — hemp is naturally resistant, has antibacterial and hypoallergenic properties, regulates humidity and temperature well, is strong and durable. As a result, their products are comfortable, functional and ecologically oriented — which appeals to customers who are looking for an alternative to conventional fashion production and who prefer sustainability. Bohempia gradually built up its international reach: in addition to the domestic market, it managed to expand sales to several countries. In the years after its founding, it launched e-shops in USA and Japan, with Japan becoming one of the first foreign markets the brand entered. The company thus showed that hemp fashion made in the EU has the potential to succeed on the global market. However, despite the original plans, Bohempia announced in 2024 the end of the production of hemp clothing. According to the company, the main reason was problems with production capacity and low customer interest in such specific products. Since then, the brand has focused mainly on the production of barefoot shoes made of hemp canvas — a segment that has maintained its popularity and market success.
