Zuzana Zmateková
Zuzana Zmateková (1989) is a textile designer who studied in the Master’s program in Fashion, Clothing, and Textile Design at the Aalto University School of Art, Design and Architecture in Helsinki. During her studies at the Textile Design Studio at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava (2008–2015), she completed additional study stays: in the Textile Design Innovation program at Nottingham Trent University and at the Faculty of Textile Design at the Lodz University of Technology. She has completed internships at the Colour and Trim department of Volkswagen AG Design, the digital textile printing department at the Alexander McQueen fashion house, and the Italian luxury woven fabric manufacturer Clerici Tessuto. As a textile print designer, she has worked for the French company Mitwill Textiles Europe and the Slovak brand Nehera. In addition to commissioned work, she devotes herself to her own experimental projects, in which she uses textiles as a medium of communication. She is constantly seeking alternative ways to perceive and utilize textiles. She has long been interested in innovative technologies, new media, virtuality, and ephemerality. The result of her research in the field of new media is also the ConTEXt project, which received a special Jury Prize in the 2019 National Design Award – Product Design competition.
