Slovenská poľnohospodárska univerzita v Nitre is a public university based in Nitra, which is a major center for education and research in agriculture, biotechnology, food, agronomy, horticulture, technical and economic disciplines. Its roots go back to 1952, when it was established as an independent agricultural college as part of the reorganization of higher education in Slovakia. Since then, the university has gradually expanded its structure — today it operates within several faculties that cover a wide range of disciplines relevant to agro‑, food, environmental and technical disciplines. The faculties include, for example: the Faculty of Agrobiology and Food Resources, the Faculty of Biotechnology and Food Industry, the Faculty of Horticulture and Landscape Engineering, the Faculty of Technology, the Faculty of Economics and Management, and the Faculty of European Studies and Regional Development. The university is profiled not only by education — bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees — but also by a strong research focus. Its mission is to connect research, development and transfer of knowledge into practice, in cooperation with industry, farmers, food businesses and environmental activities. Due to the scope of its fields and research activities, SPU can be relevant for material studies: for example in the field of biotechnology, food industry, agrotechnologies, landscape and horticultural engineering — which in a wider context can interfere with the processing of natural raw materials, environmental technologies, sustainability, and potentially also in experiments with natural fibers / agro-textiles. SPU thus represents — not only as an educational institution — an important node knowledge in Slovak agro-food and environmental research. It can be interesting for your textile/materials library as an institution that produces scientific knowledge, research and innovation — not necessarily traditional textile production, but as a potential partner or source of information about raw materials, fibers, agro-materials, environmental methods of processing materials and the like.
