Rutzký Štefan
Circumstances after 1989 led him to straw and traditional folk art production after years of architectural practice. His wife lost her position at a closed research institute, so a personal acquaintance with ÚĽUV artist Janka Menkynova came in handy for the family. Thanks to her, Agneša's wife first found a job in ÚĽUV in the production of costumed dolls, and Štefan Rutzký gradually started producing greetings and, over time, pictures and ornaments from ironed straw. Thanks to the architect's experience, the artistic side of the works was not a problem for him, and over time he tackled increasingly difficult and complex subjects, also perfecting the production technologies. His works are characterized by the use of undyed straw in yellow-brown tones. Toning is created by ironing, it depends on the quality of the straw - if it is free of defects, it leaves its natural yellowish color, but if it has, for example, mold, it is ironed to a darker shade with a hotter iron. Ak potrebuje zvýrazniť detail či vytvoriť špecifickú atmosféru, siaha aj po farebných papieroch či látkach. Typical is the yellow paper halo in his Stations of the Cross cycle or the underlying blue print fabric with tiny white dots that evokes a snowy winter mood.
