CORKIT
I'm Petra and I bring to the Slovak market sustainable, vegan and so-called slow fashion and cork design. I've been interested in cork since my school days, when I enjoyed peeling it off the bulletin board :) As an adult, I was more fascinated by cork in the form of a cork. I had a whole collection of them at home and had no idea what to do with them. After my stay in Portugal, I discovered that cork goes far beyond bulletin boards and bottle caps. I discovered beautiful and incredibly light cork handbags there. But I don't know why, I didn't bring any as a souvenir. I did so only later and from this initiative the first Slovak e-shop with cork fashion and design was born.
One day I was thinking about a creative use of cork plugs. I remembered seeing beautiful purses and bags made of cork in the country of cork (Portugal). But be careful, don't imagine connected plugs in the shape of a purse. Cork is processed in such a way that it can be sewn. At first glance, a cork handbag resembles a leather one. However, with the difference that in the case of cork fashion, the material is of non-animal origin and, moreover, sustainable. In that period, I started to live more ecologically. First of all, I limited my purchases of clothes and accessories, especially those from "fast fashion", i.e. fast-turnover cheap goods ending up in the landfill. I limited meat and preferred vegan, or non-animal and non-animal tested products. That's why when I needed a new handbag, I decided on a cork one. And since I couldn't find an e-shop with cork fashion in Slovakia, the idea was born. CORK it was created.
CORK it will suit you if: Are you looking for a functional alternative to animal skin? Are you fascinated by natural materials, sustainability is your philosophy, do you try to live as ecologically as possible, is veganism close to you ethically? Or are you simply a lover of nice and overlooked pieces that not every neighbor around you wears? Cork is highly resistant - against water, dust, scratches, A wet cork handbag does not smell, Cork does not need any special treatment, And in the world of fashion, cork is a material that has not yet been seen
CORK it is not about the products themselves. On the blog and social networks, you can read valuable information about cork, the possibilities of its use, about sustainability, about Portugal, and you will also find creative inspiration for your own cork ideas. You can count on a personal approach in communication and solving your wishes. The products are made by hand and I import them from Portuguese craftsmen from the companies Corkor, Jocork, Marla País and Viking Corticeira. I have proven experience with these suppliers and I trust their products. We tested their durability in various conditions. I want to share this satisfaction and enthusiasm with you.
