Development of textile production
One of the first steps towards the industrialization of the region was the resumption of production in the textile factory in Čadčany, whose building remained unused for a long time after the export of machinery in 1922. In this case, however, it was not a planned start of production, but rather a pragmatic step related to the overall development in post-war Czechoslovakia.
In the following years, the old industry in Kysucie developed significantly and gradually became one of the most important production areas. Two companies (Slovena Čadca and Slovenská Turzovka) were engaged in the production of textile products, which at the same time represent two examples of different economic and technological development during the socialist period.
After the restoration of production, the Čadčianska textile factory belonged to the Sloven company in Žilina. In 1991, the plant was privatized and renamed Pratex. After the transition to private hands, the first waves of layoffs began and finally production could not be maintained and the textile mill was closed in 1999 after long economic problems.
