DITF – Deutsche Institute für Textil- und Faserforschung Denkendorf
The Deutsche Institute für Textil- und Faserforschung Denkendorf (DITF) belongs to the largest European centers of applied textile research and for more than a hundred years has covered the entire chain of development of textile materials – from the chemical and physical foundations of fiber formation to finished products and their implementation in various industries. Inštitút was founded in 1921 and gradually grew into an internationally recognized research center with more than 250 experts and an extensive technical background, including pilot lines, laboratories and industrial test facilities.
DITF specializes in the development of new fibers, textile processes and functional material modifications. This includes the creation of high-performance synthetic and natural fibers, research into advanced technologies of spinning, weaving or the production of non-woven textiles, as well as the application of chemical treatments for new functional properties. A significant part of their work today consists of composite materials, smart textiles with built-in sensors or nanotechnologies, as well as medical textiles used in the healthcare industry.
They also place great emphasis on sustainability and the circular economy. They are involved in European innovation projects focused on bio-based materials, recyclable textiles and reducing the environmental burden in textile production. Inštitút functions as a strong technological partner of the industry - it helps companies in the development of prototypes, testing, optimization of production and the transfer of new technologies into practice. Linking research with education in cooperation with universities is an integral part of its activity.
