Fachverband Hanftextilien e. V. is a German association that represents the interests of the hemp textile industry from the agricultural stage to the final products. His vision is to transform textile production so that it is as sustainable, circular and ecological as possible - hemp is considered a key raw material for a circular economy. The association strives to establish and strengthen the production of hanftextiles in Germany and Europe. Its mission is to promote economic and ecological stability in the textile sector, ensure the sustainable development of the entire value chain and at the same time strengthen the value of "Textilien aus Hanf" thanks to innovation, respect for the environment and regional focus. The activities of the Fachverband are diverse: it brings together members from the entire textile value chain – farmers, processors, developers, designers and clothing manufacturers. Its important areas include the support of the production of natural, durable and circular hemp fabrics, the development of knowledge about fiber processing (spinning, weaving, modifications), but also quality, recycling and transparency in the supply chain. The association runs an active network (the "Textile Network") that brings together textile professionals, research and craft, and organizes professional events, seminars and conferences. It also publishes studies, professional articles and manuals on technical and ecological processing of hemp textiles. The environmental approach of the association is also reflected in the initiative called "Der Grüne Kreis" ("The Green Circle"), which is supposed to represent a certification framework for hemp textiles with high environmental and regional value.
