AFBW – Clusterinitiative Baden‑Württemberg (Natural Fiber & Biopolymers BW)

AFBW – Allianz Faserbasierte Werkstoffe Baden‑Württemberg (NaturalFIBER & Biopolymers BW) is a regional initiative aimed at promoting a sustainable bioeconomy in Baden-Württemberg through the development of values ​​based on natural fibers and biopolymers. The main project of this alliance is NaturalFIBER and Biopolymers BW, the aim of which is to intensively develop the cultivation, processing and use of natural fibers (e.g. hemp, flax, nettle) in the region. The project focuses on the creation of new regional value chains - from farmers to processors to manufacturers of textile and composite materials. Under NaturalFIBER BW, AFBW is building an innovation platform that connects businesses, research institutions and farmers, creates communication channels, online portals and databases about natural fibers, thereby promoting the synergistic use of raw materials. The main strategic goals of the project include the development of natural fiber processing technologies, the creation of more efficient and ecological production processes, as well as the reduction of dependence on fossil raw materials. In addition, the project contributes to the strengthening of rural areas and regional industry thanks to the support of local companies and the development of bio-economic ecosystems.
