mechanized harvest
A mechanized method of harvesting agricultural crops (e.g. grain) using combines or other agricultural machinery. The machine simultaneously cuts, separates the grain from the straw and partially cleans it. Harvesting for the textile industry means collecting plants at the optimal stage of maturation, when the stems contain the most quality fibers. After harvesting, the stems are dried and then processed to obtain strong, natural textile fibers suitable for fabric production. Different types of industrial harvesting equipment are manufactured and designed for each plant, depending on the type of plant being processed and for what type of production or product. A Claas Xerion 4000 VC tractor with multifunctional equipment separates the biomass into two parts during the harvest of industrial hemp in the Netherlands. The upper part of the plant, rich in protein, is fed to cattle as feed, and the stems are ready for packaging.
