Technique related to felting, but applied to woven woolen textiles rather than loose fibers. Fulling was used to finish homespun, craft, and manufactory-produced woolen cloth. During the process, the fabric usually shrank to three-quarters or two-thirds of its original size, while becoming denser, warmer, and more durable.
