weaving on a loom and on cards
Until the mid-20th century, alongside loom weaving, two simpler methods of textile production were preserved in the traditional textile culture of Slovakia – tablet weaving and card weaving. The resulting product of both techniques was a woven band, a narrow textile in the form of a strip whose length greatly exceeded its width. Tablet weaving was used to produce laces, cords for tying loads, and woolen belts as part of folk clothing. Such belts were also made by card weaving.
