cottonization

It is the process of separating bundles of bast technical fibres into individual elementary fibres. The purpose is to “cottonize” the material (cotton = bavlna), meaning that the properties of the cottonized material are modified to resemble cotton fibres so that it can be spun using cotton spinning technology or the production method for carded wool yarn.
