non-woven fabric
Nuno felting is a textile technique in which fine wool (most commonly merino) is worked into a base fabric such as silk or gauze using a wet process. The result is a lightweight, soft, yet strong textile with a unique structure and design. The process involves layering wool onto fabric, wetting it with soapy water, and then mechanically working it (by rubbing and rolling), which causes the wool fibres to interlock with the fibres of the fabric. Nuno felting allows the creation of original scarves, shawls, garments, and decorations with rich colour and texture effects.
