calendering

Calendering is a mechanical finishing process in which textiles pass through a series of heated and pressure-controlled rollers to improve smoothness, gloss, density and surface appearance. The treatment can create a polished finish, compress fabric structures and enhance specific physical properties. Calendering is widely used for cotton, linen, synthetic and blended fabrics in both apparel and technical textile production.
