Manx loathan
An ancient, rare sheep breed originating from the Isle of Man in the Irish Sea. The breed is very old, likely existing already in the Iron Age and predating Viking invasions of the island. Manx Loaghtan means “mouse-brown.” It has a higher lanolin content, which makes processing easier and increases resistance to moisture. The resulting yarn is strong, elastic, and durable, suitable for products that are frequently used. It is not itchy, but pleasant, soft, and fluffy, making it suitable for direct skin contact in the form of outer layers or accessories. It occurs in shades of brown.
