Gotland
It originates from the Gotland sheep breed, native to the Swedish island of Gotland. It contains a higher proportion of long outer hairs and less undercoat, which gives it strength and durability. It is mainly used for hand spinning lustrous yarns, knitting and weaving sweaters, scarves, coats, hats, blankets, carpets, and traditional Scandinavian textiles, as well as for wet and dry felting, making decorations, dolls, artistic objects, and decorative art yarns, where its pearly sheen, long curls, and robustness stand out.
