Ústredie ľudovej umeleckej výroby Banska Bystrica

The regional craft center (RCR) ÚĽUV Banská Bystrica was established in 2005 and is a contact workplace with consulting and educational activities for the area of ​​central Slovakia with its own circle of art advisors and craft lecturers from the region. It is located in the city center in a renovated bourgeois house from the first third of the 16th century on Dolná Street, and its most important activity is the year-round operation of the ÚĽUV School of Crafts with courses for children, youth and adults. The courses are short-term and long-term, some with the possibility of obtaining accreditation. During July and August, weekly rounds of craft courses are prepared for children aged 8 to 15 as part of the Holiday with Crafts event. Those interested in traditional productions have the opportunity to test their skills, especially in the pottery, tinsmith, textile and carving workshops, as well as in the glass painting workshop. However, according to requirements, the Bystrica RCR ÚĽUV also offers workshops focused on other traditional crafts. The offer for collectives includes excursions in the premises of the RCR combined with demonstrations of traditional crafts, as well as creative workshops, in which especially elementary school students can make a small craft product. Part of the RCR ÚĽUV Banská Bystrica is also a shop of folk art products and a thematic library.
