industrial decortication

ndustrial decortication is the mechanical separation of bast fibres from the woody core of plants such as hemp, flax, kenaf and jute. The process uses specialized machinery to crush, break and separate plant stems into fibre fractions and shives. Modern decortication lines combine rollers, breakers, cleaners and separation systems to maximize fibre quality and processing efficiency. Industrial decortication is a critical stage in the production of textile-grade hemp and flax fibres and significantly influences the quality of subsequent spinning operations. In addition to textile applications, the resulting shives are utilized in construction materials, animal bedding and bio-based composites.
